We would generally recommend keeping your domain name as simple and as short as possible. Your property name and / or location is always a good place to start.
You can check if domains are available to purchase during the registration process.
top -Do I get a domain name as part of the package through HolidaySiteBuilder?
Yes, you can choose one .co.uk, .com or .net domain name as part of the HolidaySiteBuilder package.
You can also point unlimited additional domains bought with other registrars to your HolidaySiteBuilder site. This is a free service.

Holiday Site Builder allows you to point domains registered with other domain registrars to your Holiday Site Builder site.
There are two steps to adding previously registered domains or domains registered with other registrars:
1) You will have to change the name servers using the other domain registrar's control panel to:
ns1.stellus.co.uk
ns2.stellus.co.uk
2) Enter the domain in the form on the Domain Management page so HolidaySiteBuilder knows about your domain.
Please see the video below that explains how to point domains registered with other domain registrars – we use 1and1 as an example.

top -I am unsure how to change the name servers using the domain registrar I have chosen.
Here is an example of what you would have to do to change your name servers with 1and1 (a popular international domain registrar):
1) Log into 1and1 and select the domain you would like to forward to your HolidaySiteBuilder website.
2) Use the DNS drop down to “Edit DNS Settings”
3) Change the Name server from “1and1 name server” to “My name server”
4) Add a Primary name server of “ns1.stellus.co.uk”
5) Add a Secondary name server of “ns2.stellus.co.uk”
6) Click Save
Please see the video below that explains how to point domains registered with other domain registrars – we use 1and1 as an example.

top -My ISP or Domain Host doesn't allow DNS pointing. What can I do?
You can transfer the domain to another host that does. Try www.1and1.co.uk - you only need the basic domain package
top -Transferring a domain from HolidaySiteBuilder
To transfer a domain from HolidaySiteBuilder, you will need to arrange a transfer with a new host. Once you have made the transfer application, the process depends on whether you have a .uk address or .com domain.
.uk domains require a change of tag. Please contact us and let us know the new tag. There is a small charge (currently £10) which reflect our costs from the registrar.
Other top level domains require a payment to the new host. Once this is made we will automatically receive a transfer request and will respond to it.
top -Should I go for .com, .net or .co.uk?
All the extensions have their advantages. We would generally recommend .com or .net because it is multi-national. However, you may have more luck finding a good name which is still available if you look for a .co.uk.
top -Why shouldn't I use domain "forwarding"
When a domain is forwarded, everytime a page is requested from your site, the request goes to your host's server and is then redirected to your HolidaySiteBuilder url. This means you won't be indexed by search engines and your site will seem slower to visitors.
Please update your DNS or your name servers to point a external domain to a HolidaySiteBuilder site as described in the section above.
top -Is HolidaySiteBuilder a domain name supplier?
No, we simply act as agents for one. We do this mainly to make the process of linking up our customer’s HolidaySiteBuilder site to their domain name as simple and automated as possible.
top -The domain name I want isn’t available. What can I do?
Keep trying alternative names. Look up words you were going to use in a Thesaurus and try alternatives. If you are using a location in your domain name, try the area name instead of the specific town or village.
top -I have applied for a domain name through HolidaySiteBuilder. How long does it take to become active?
It takes about 3 working days for your domain name to become 'live'. Until then you will simply get a 'Page can't be displayed' message. We don't send confirmation of your domain becoming live as it's a gradual process that's outside of our control.
